Chris, what is the transmission of choice in this class? 3, 4, or 5 speed Lenco, Liberty , G Force, or something else.
Every pix I see of these things is just a rat's nest of hoses, cables, and wires. Is this for easy access? Looks very unorganized and problem prone. _________________ Stand on it...brakes only slow you down. |

Alot of folks use 4 speed Lenco's, but 3-4 or 5 speeds depends solely on one drivers car setup. G-force trans are mainly found in Mustang,10.5, and even prostock, but i dont think they can handle 2000 HP, so thats why you see more libertys (rarely) and the most common-Lenco
The rats nests you see is mainly the air shift setup, you will see a cylinder above each gear on a lenco, , then connected to some other devices and finally the air bottles usually mounted near the passenger side.older setups.. or the most adventurous will use the lever non-air shift setup. _________________ Ryan

Don,
Sorry for the late response for those I haven't told I had another death in the family and will most likely be gone again this weekend. Anyway any of the trannys you listed are fine to run (the only thing I know of that they do not allow is a multiple clutch direct drive setup like you'd find in a fuel car) As Ryan already stated most of these cars do run Lenco trannys (3 speed being the most common)and yes they are a jumbled up mess of wires hoses air tanks etc. One thing Ryan didn't mention but I'm sure he knows is the air lines are there to shift the gears but their are also different setups as far as how the air solenoids are activated they can be done with buttons by the driver (prob most common) or RPM activated as well as some that are run on timers that activate when you let off the clutch. And again as stated there are still some old scholl guys who just like driving with one hand and slamming the levers with the other. Probably the easiest setup to do would be air shifted lenco with push buttons on a tree If it's still on his site Chris at Top End Miniatures has a lenco tranny with all the lines hoked up clearly visible for ref. on his site. If you can't find any ref matierial let me know and I'll see if I can come up with something for you when I get back.
Thanks

We're ready to race. It's just not painted, but some people like primer. The proposed extension is OK with me. _________________ Stand on it...brakes only slow you down. |

LOL It's ok guys I posted an extension on Don, Ryan and Max's build threads the new date will be July 7th (or whatever the date is for the monday after the 4th of july weekend) that will give everyone an extra month to get things completed. Max I wasn't sure if you would have time or not since your doing the team build with the Camaro so I only mention Max and Dons builds in their threads but then I remembered you we pretty much ahead of everybody else to begin with so I posted the date on your build thread as well so please don't think I was excluding you I just knew you were really deep into another build. Good luck guys

Might I suggest we revive this project. what do you guys think. It would make a great start to the year and guys can have some time revive some builds I know they have a ton of time in. Im thinking make it another six month deal like the July 4, 09 weekend? _________________ My computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing. |

Mine was actually done on time. This was the second time I was the only one to finish on time, so I didin't even post it. I think part of the problem may be the deadlines are too long, not too short. I for one procrastinate till the point of no return. People see no reason the rush, then it's too late to start and they never participate. _________________ Stand on it...brakes only slow you down. |
